(Boston, MA) - Opening a new restaurant is never an easy task. Even with months of planning a million things can go wrong. That being said, imagine opening a new restaurant in only five-weeks! That is the case with Boston Restaurateur, Real Estate Developer, and founder of the Beantown Jazz Festival, Darryl Settles. A short time ago Darryl Settles was sitting in a friend's office that over-looked the developing South Boston Waterfront when his keen business sense kicked in, "You know what we need in this area?…a fun family-based casual restaurant that would feature fresh quick-serve food, ice-cream and music!" With little less than a mention and an idea, the "D" Street Cafe was born.
After all the proper logistical stars were aligned Darryl Settles, co-owner of The wildly successful Beehive with Jack Bardy, Jennifer Epstein and William Keravuori in Boston's South End and a virtual legend in the city with the now deceased Bob's Southern Bistro, pitched the idea to long-time friend Bob Wiggins of Gourmet Caterers. "It was a no-brainer. Darryl is consistently coming up with great ideas for the city and this simply seemed like a great time to enter into this venture." said Bob Wiggins, owner of Gourmet Caterers.
The New "D" Street Cafe will officially open on The South Boston Waterfront on July 3, 2008 and be an 80-seat outdoor restaurant serving fun, fresh, casual fare such as: grilled burgers, hot dogs, fresh sandwiches (including lobster rolls), salads and fresh local ice cream, as well as, "Grab-and Go" items for the busy passersby and the ever-growing business demographic flooding into the area. The restaurant will be a seasonal venture operating each year from: May - October and hours of operation will be: Monday - Wednesday, Friday, Saturday: 11:00am to 7:00pm, Thursday: 11:00am to 9:00pm. Extended hours on Thursday are set for special live music acts ranging from Jazz, Latin, Reggae and other world music. On the days that live music will not be featured a DJ from New York has been commissioned to prep a virtual soundtrack for daily operations.
"This is going to be the kind of place I think families will want to stop in and grab great food, listen to wonderful music and enjoy the beautiful park that the City of Boston and Massport has worked so hard to develop. I hope this will not only be an addition to the waterfront, but a welcome mat to other businesses to join us and truly develop this area into one of Boston's best new areas!" said Darryl Settles.
Terramia Ristorante will be OPEN on Friday, 4th of July '08, you can book your party now ! Also our sister restaurant, Antico Forno will be open for lunch and dinner on 4th of July!

Fifth Annual Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off August 2 and 3, 2008
On August 2 and 3, 2008, Louisiana is expecting "…a Heat Wave, a Tropical Heat Wave…but the Temperature is Rising and It Isn't Surprising…" being it is the 5th Annual Great American Seafood Cook-Off in New Orleans, supported by the National Oceanic Atmospheric Association. As one of the nation's most prestigious culinary events, the Great American Seafood Cook-Off seeks out top-level chefs from across the country to compete and prepare seafood dishes using sustainable and domestic fish and shellfish, showcasing the best culinary products from their state. Chefs representing all fifty states, chosen by the governor, are eligible to compete, but only the first twenty will be gearing up for the challenge! It is on a first come, first served basis! Already on the roster are Maryland's chef, Tafari Campbell, who has graced the kitchen of The White House; Louisiana's chef, Brian Landry of Galatoire's Restaurant; North Carolina's chef, Jeff Sanderling of The Sanderling Resort and Spa; California's chef, Dean Thomas of Barona Valley Ranch Resort & Casino; and Alaska's chef, Rob Kinneer of Hotel Captain Cook are just a few of the noteworthy participants.
On the first day of the cook-off, the chefs will strive to present their most sophisticated and delectable dishes. Just six finalists will move on to day two, when they will concentrate on making fresh domestic seafood easy and exciting for home cooks. The chefs will have just a short time to make a hearty home-style meal that even the most harried home chef could cook. At the end of the day, only one will be crowned King or Queen of American Seafood.
Hail to the past kings: Chef Tim Thomas from The Ocean Forest Club, Sea Island, Georgia; Chef Justin Timineri, Executive Chef for the Department of Agriculture of Florida; Chef Randy Evans of Brennan's Restaurant in Houston, Texas; and Chef John Besh of Besh Restaurant Group, New Orleans, Louisiana, bringing home the crown in the competition's first year. "We want people to really think about their seafood," said Chef John Besh, "about where it comes from. Events like this raise their awareness."
It is not only the winners that are the shining stars, but past competitors and judges who have attended and turned up the heat: Jasper White, Michel Richard, Paula Dean, Michael Gagne, and Robert Wiedmaier.
The Louisiana Restaurant Association Foodservice Expo and The Southwest Gulf Coast Seafood Pavilion will host this seafood smack-down, with New Orleans' own distinguished chef and culinary face for the My Louisiana campaign, Chef John Besh, acting as Master of Ceremonies. Experience the amazing taste of American seafood and the unique preparations of the country's best and specially chosen chefs. With all those big name toques and bold seafood flavors, this is one cooking contest that's sure to boil over with fun.
Get ready for a serious showdown. Only one person is going to walk away victorious. This is where all of the serious candidates come to campaign…in a Louisiana cook-off, on August 2 and 3, 2008.

Legal Sea Foods is proud to announce they have just been named the #1 Best Family Restaurant in a recent poll by Parents™ magazine. On a mission to see which establishments cater best to families, the national consumer publication surveyed more than 50 of the nation's largest full-service restaurant chains and Legal Sea Foods was top dog, or more aptly - king fish.
"We are pleased to see that restaurant chains are offering healthier options for the whole family," says Sally Lee, editor-in chief of Parents magazine. "In particular, parents are concerned about trans fats, so we made it a point to note which restaurants still have them in at least some of their menu items."
Legal Sea Foods is one of only a third of the restaurant chains surveyed that is free of trans fats. Offering much more than a kid friendly menu and hospitable atmosphere, the nation's finest sea food restaurant earned this particular recognition due to their consistent dedication to excellence. The restaurant accommodates children with a variety of food allergies - they even boast a gluten free menu catering to those afflicted by Celiac Disease. Other factors taken into consideration during the judging process include: kid amenities such as changing tables in restrooms and crayons at the table, reservation policies and partnerships with children's charities.
The 5 Best Family Restaurants in order of their ranking are:
Legal Sea Foods
Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes
Mimi's Cafe
Uno Chicago Grill
Chili's Grill & Bar

The Rhode Island Red may be one of the state's official mascots, but to the patrons of Evelyn's Drive In it means something else entirely. For New Englanders (and weekend road trip-ers alike) it sums up the quintessential red shingle-style clam shack that they have returned to for nearly forty years offering such Yankee summer favorites as batter fried clams, broth based clam chowder, and the Evelyn's specialty "lobster chow mein." Evelyn's Drive-In has come out of hibernation after a long winter and opened its doors to those hungry for an early taste of summer.
The re-opening of Evelyn's Drive-In on Nanaquaket Pond is here for its 2008 summer season. Whether you come by boat (Evelyn's has its own private dock) or take the drive down from New York or Boston, Evelyn's will be open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week from 11:30-8:00pm (summer hours 9:00 pm).
For more information about Evelyn's please contact Kate Hathaway at 617.413.3875 or Jane Bitto at 401.624.3100.
